Somehow I had arrived –

At a crossroads,

And from there,

I continued –

Sometimes pulled,

Towards something,

Bigger than me.

I made a vow to all I loved,

That I would build,

New pathways,

Stronger foundations,

From the rubble –

Of the past.

And on my trek,

I came upon Garmisch,

From its heights I saw –

The world expand before me,

Bordering four countries,

Each a child of mine.

My wife and I in the centre.

The closest I’d ever been –

To God.
