We began to run,

Long before our paths crossed.

Picking up –

Speed and problems,

On life’s varying terrains.

Before we ran out of road,

We made conscious attempts,

To move faster, control our pace,

But life had wilder dreams,

Bigger plans and greater falls –

In store for you and I,

And in our bid,

To stay ahead we fell behind,

Weakened knees and broken hearts,

With you, I learned to move slower,

And we fell into each others stride.

Slowling to a walk, Hand in hand,

With enough space in front,

To see the life we had ahead of us.
